According to a July 10 Coindesk report, Bitclub Network programmer Silviu Catalin Balaci confirmed on Thursday that he was involved in planning the Ponzi scheme. Lawyers are accused of stealing $722 million in bitcoins over five years from a mining pool. In response, Balaci acknowledged that BitClub had caused financial damage. If convicted, Balaci faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
