According to a July 9 report by The Block, Ethereum addresses holding nearly 100,000 USDC stablecoins have been blacklisted. Companies found by blockchain browser Etherscan reported that on June 16, 0x5dB0115f3B72d19cEa34dD697cf412Ff86dc7E1b (address provided by CENTER, the site reported by USDC) was labeled as a "blacklist" (office address). According to the Circle website, black addresses cannot be traded (received or sent) on USDC smart contracts. The circle added that any USDC black address balance would be "irreversible" permanently. It is unknown what caused the name blacklist feature to be activated, but in the Etherscan text section of the separate address associated with the black address, users claim that the owner of the address tells them stole the chips.
