A Pennsylvania man lied to a West Virginia bank where he had $640,000 in bitcoins to get a loan. He apologized for the fraud on Tuesday. Randall Joseph Smail, 23, pleaded guilty in the United States Court of Appeals to defrauding Pendleton Community Bank of $552,533 in loans using fraudulent Kraken exchange information. He was convicted of bank fraud and sentenced to 30 years in prison and fined $1 million.
