According to CoinDesk on Monday, April 7, Michael Hlady, a partner at blockchain consultancy firm Alchemist, confirmed that he joined the blackmail initiative with several million dollars in Ethereum. He is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence and a fine. Hlady and her partner Steven Nerayoff, director of the Ethereum project, are accused of threatening the company director by saying they would liquidate the company if they did not agree to additional requests and tokens. In 2019, Nerayoff and Hlady were arrested by the FBI. Unlike Hlady's defense, Nerayoff pursued the "innocent" defense against a costly threat and is now awaiting trial.
