According to CoinDesk on October 7, David Schweikert and Darren Soto of the Congressional Blockchain Caucus submitted the Blockchain Record and Transaction Act to family representatives on Wednesday. Current law prohibits individuals from disclosing the legal status of electronic data "simply because it is created, stored or secured by the blockchain." The law will also include blockchains and smart contracts through the Global and Internal Trade Electronic Signature Act of 2000, which provides broad protections for electronic signatures as required by government policy of the US government.
