IOHK encourages the ETC community to use Cardano or Bitcoin to prevent 51% of attacks.

On September 5, the Cointelegraph announced that the IOHK had submitted an inspection facility request to the ETC community, a short-term fix to prevent 51% of future attacks. This solution recommends that test centers identify the network. So if an attacker digs into a "shadow" network (like the previous attacker did when he doubled his money on OKEx), the shadow network will not have these credentials. So there may be evidence of more functionality than the mainnet, but this will not be accepted. The labs were conducted in the undocumented Ouroboros Byzantine Fault Tolerant (OBFT) facility and were signed by ETC's “trusted members”. Test sites were placed on average every 3 blocks. The concept does not specify who will be selected as trustworthy members, but suggests that new checkpoints can be created using Cardano or Bitcoin.
