DDoS attackers demand Bitcoin ransom from major financial service providers such as PayPal.

A few weeks ago, hackers launched a DDoS attack on the world's largest financial services provider and demanded a ransom in Bitcoin, Zdnet warns. Just this week, the group announced its opposition to MoneyGram, YesBank Indiak, PayPal, Braintree and Venmo. The New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX), which has been suspended for three consecutive days, was also hit. The group used names like Armada Collective and Fancy Bear, which they borrowed from well-known hacking groups, to send emails to email companies threatening DDoS attacks and demanding a Bitcoin ransom.
