South Korea adds cryptocurrency as a household appliance for annual financial research
The International Monetary Fund (KOSTAT) conducted a sample survey of cryptocurrency holdings of 20,000 households on March 31, but did not release the survey results, Golden Financial reported. KOSTAT defines cryptocurrencies as virtual trading assets of cryptocurrency exchanges, but does not examine the types of cryptocurrencies traded. The survey was conducted following the South Korean cryptocurrency tax plan, which was originally scheduled to take place on January 1 this year but was postponed to 2023. The Korean Journal of 'Home Economics and Living Research' is conducted annually to understand the overall health of living by examining the assets, liabilities, income and expenses of each family. The Agency will not distribute cryptocurrencies as financial or physical assets because the state has not yet decided on its status as an asset.
