Two Democrats urge Biden not to vote for Fed Chairman Powell in by-election

After Elizabeth Warren, on November 20, news broke that two of America's most successful Democrats were also opposed to the re-election of Fed Powell chairman. Senator Jeff Merkley of Oregon and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island said in a statement Friday morning that Powell could not make a firm commitment to tackle growing climate risk. But by giving Powell strong Republican support, if Biden chooses Powell, the number of Democrats in the ranks would not be enough to influence his decision.
