According to Golden Financial, hundreds of Salvadorans have claimed that hackers used their ID numbers to unlock Chibo wallets in order to receive a $ 30 bitcoin reward from the government. Salvadoran Cynthia Gutierrez is known to initially refuse to remove Chivo, but decided to open the app on October 16 after learning that hackers had opened a wallet involving an identification number. When Gutierrez accessed his personal information, a screen appeared indicating that his ID number was already associated with his wallet. The Gutierrez case is one of hundreds that have been reported by Salvadorans since September.
