On October 28, the Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange was preparing to try out new anti-money laundering (AML) tools on its platform. The company said on Wednesday it would try new solutions designed to comply with the "travel policy." The “Travel Policy” is the regulation on “Financial protection / financial crime prevention activities” for financial institutions established by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in 2019. Bitfinex has partnered with startup Notabene to use Software as a Service (SaaS) to identify virtual assets, track cross-border access, and fulfill other responsibilities of Virtual Service Providers (VASPs). This integration allows businesses to protect privacy when collecting and managing travel information. According to the announcement, the solution would allow Bitfinex to share, send and receive data while trading on the blockchain with all participants using the same organization. Bitfinex's sister company Tether has also started using Notabene drugs. (Co-manager)
