Reuters reported that cryptocurrency platform Coinbase has begun preparations for an IPO, including venture capital. The list must be approved by the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The competition for support from crypto proponents would be a significant win if security authorities agree. The SEC has said that some cryptocurrencies are considered safe and will be regulated, but has yet to issue specific guidance for most cryptocurrencies. Many cryptocurrencies have struggled to gain approval from local investors and the general public, suspicious of their status and money laundering.
